Reading Time: 4 minutes

Can you go to Snowshoe and not ski? Of course!

What is there to do besides hitting the slopes? You’d be surprised. We have a variety of off-slope non-skier activities at Snowshoe to keep you entertained. Whether it’s your first time at Snowshoe or you’re a seasoned Snowshoe local – we’ve got you covered. From adrenaline-fueled adventure tours to the most relaxing day of your life and every meal in between. Snowshoe Mountain isn’t just a resort for downhill enthusiasts, it’s the best ski resort for skiers and non-skiers alike.

From Thrilling,

Snowmobiling in the Allegheny Mountains

Snowmobile tours are perfect for all you thrill-seekers craving the ultimate winter adventure. This one-of-a-kind experience lets you see the mountain like never before. Whether you choose our evening slope tour or daytime backcountry tour, we guarantee you’ll have the ride of your life.

Guided by your headlights, the 1-hour evening tour allows you to traverse the Basin ski slopes after hours. This tour is perfect for first time drivers and families, as the terrain is steady and passengers (ages 6 to 15) are permitted.

The 1.5-hour daytime backcountry tour guides you deeper into the wilderness where you’ll travel through a variety of terrain including open fields, narrow hill climbs, scenic double track, and even frozen creek crossings. Some previous experience driving ATVs or snowmobiles is recommended and passengers are not permitted on this tour. Availability of the backcountry tour is dependent upon natural snowfall.

Snow Tubing at Silver Creek

Experience the thrills and excitement of our 6-story, 8 lane Coca-Cola tubing park. No matter your age, we guarantee you’ll be uncontrollably laughing and racing to the tow rope every time you reach the bottom. And if you’re really feeling it, wait until the sun goes down. That’s when the music gets turned up, the multi-colored LED light show is turned on, and Galactic Tubing begins.

Snowshoeing and XC Skiing in West Virginia

Take on the snow-covered backcountry trails at the base of the mountain on Cross Country Skis or Snowshoes. Located at the base of the mountain, Elk River Touring Center offers XC Ski and Snowshoe rentals and lessons. They offer approximately 3 miles of packed trails around Elk River Inn and Cabins and a map of other ungroomed trails in the area. Located in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest, your adventure will give you a peek into the expansive wilderness and gorgeous views of the area.

To Relaxing,

Split Rock Pools

Just like any great swimming hole, Split Rock Pools is just as fun for adults as it is for the kids. They’ll splash around the indoor/outdoor heated swimming area, zipping down the slide and making new friends, while you relax in the sauna and hot tub and take in the scenic views. It’s a win-win, the perfect place to play and unwind at the same time.

Sleigh Rides at Autumn Breeze Stables

“Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh…” That is quite literally what you’ll be doing when you hop on a sleigh ride tour around the Silver Creek area of Snowshoe. The experience is absolutely exhilarating. The sound of sleigh bells and horse hooves filling your ears. The smell of fresh snow and spruce forests dancing in your nose. And the beauty of untouched wilderness exciting your eyes. There’s nothing more magical or romantic than this!

Mountain Yoga

Sometimes the combination of fresh mountain air and yoga is all it takes to bring a little balance to your life. Get your flow on at a restorative yoga class that’s suitable for beginners and more advanced yogi’s alike. Walk-ins are always welcome. Check This Week on the Mountain for the weekly class schedule.
