Winter 2026/27 Preview: What’s Ahead at Snowshoe

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The leaves are putting on a show around the mountain, but Old Man Winter is getting closer by the day.

Snowshoe is targeting Wednesday, November 25 for Opening Day, weather permitting, which means snowmaking season is coming up quick. First turns and everything else that comes with winter in the mountains won’t be far behind, and this year, there’s plenty to look forward to beyond getting back on snow.

A NEW SHAVERS CENTER

One of the biggest changes you’ll notice this winter is the new Shavers Center.

The new facility will serve as Snowshoe’s main day lodge, with cafeteria-style dining and après events, plus a new home for Ski & Ride School and Pre-Ski programs. Shavers Center is expected to open alongside the resort on November 25, weather permitting.

WINTER EVENTS ARE BACK

Opening Day is only the beginning. The 2026/27 calendar brings back plenty of Snowshoe favorites, plus a few reasons to circle some dates now.

Winter Brewfest returns December 12 and will take place inside the new Shavers Center. December also brings West Virginia Ski FREE Day, the opening of Silver Creek, a Burton Snowboards 50th Anniversary Demo Event, Christmas in the Village and New Year’s Eve Celebrations.

After the calendar flips to 2027, look for Snowshoe Pride Weekend, the Cupp Run Challenge, Red Bull Rivals, the Snowshoe Open, USASA racing, Kids Ski FREE Week, College Weekend and Spring Fling.

The season is currently scheduled to wrap up March 21 with another West Virginia Ski FREE Day, weather permitting.

MORE WAYS TO GET ON SNOW

There are many options to hit the slopes this winter. From season passes to day lift tickets. If you’re not ready to fully send it on a season pass, the Flex 3 Pass is back for winter.

The pass includes any three non-holiday days on snow during the 2026/27 season, and they don’t have to be used consecutively. Pricing jumps on November 1, and the pass is only available before Opening Day.

Speaking of pricing jumps, Snowshoe Unlimited and Midweek & Creek Season Pass prices jump on 10/9, and we’re adding even more reasons to get in on a season pass this year. Our new Winter Season Pass Rewards Program gives you something to count up once you’re done counting down the days ’til Opening Day.

And if you’re already thinking about a full winter trip, Flurry of Savings is happening now, with savings of up to 20% on lodging and rentals, plus the best available lift ticket pricing.

SEE YOU THIS WINTER

For now, enjoy the fall color. Before long, those mountain views will look a lot different.

Opening Day is targeted for November 25, weather permitting, and we’re counting down right along with you.

See you around the mountain!
